ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday refused to accept the resignation of special assistant on information and broadcasting, Lt. Gen. (Retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa, and directed him to continue work.
Senator Faisal Javed Khan, in a tweet, confirmed that the premier had directed Bajwa to continue working as his aide. At the same time, the official Twitter account of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said while quoting the prime minister that he was satisfied with the evidence provided by Bajwa about his family's assets.
Journalist Ahmed Noorani published an investigative news report recently about alleged offshore properties and businesses of Bajwa and his close family members. However, Bajwa denied the allegations by issuing a four-page rebuttal.
On Thursday, Bajwa announced in Geo News program Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath that he had decided to step down from his position as SAPM on information, saying he would present his resignation to the prime minister.
